Welcome to Joe Lin's Report (老喬報, "the Website"). So that you can use our services and information with peace of mind, this policy explains how we protect your privacy. Please read it carefully.

1. Scope of this policy

This policy applies to the websites and services operated by Joe Lin's Report (Joe Lin, 林伯彥) on the joelin.cc domain and all of its subdomains (*.joelin.cc), together referred to as "the Website". All websites within this scope share the same data-handling principles and the same contact channels. Unless otherwise announced, any subdomain or service added in the future is covered by this policy from the day it launches.

Subdomains currently operating within this scope include, but are not limited to:

  • me.joelin.cc: Joe Lin's profile, media coverage and services
  • fansupport.joelin.cc: a fan-support information site
  • photobooth.joelin.cc: a guide to photo sticker booths in Taiwan
  • tools.joelin.cc: online tools
  • flexspace.joelin.cc: registered-address and business-space information

This policy does not apply to third-party websites linked from the Website, nor to people who are not commissioned by or involved in managing the Website. When you follow a link to a third-party website, that website's own privacy policy applies.

2. How we collect, process and use personal data

We collect personal data only in the situations listed below, and process and use it only within the specific purpose of each. We will not use it for any other purpose without your consent.

(1) Newsletter subscription

When you subscribe to the Joe Lin's Report newsletter (by entering your email address, or by choosing "Subscribe with Google"), we collect your email address. If you subscribe with Google, your account data is also handled under the Joe Lin Member Center privacy policy. We use your email address to:

  1. Send newsletter content and related notices, and record delivery, open and click statistics to help us improve how content is put together.
  2. Build advertising audiences when we advertise on Meta (Facebook, Instagram), for example to avoid showing subscription ads to readers who have already subscribed, or to find readers with similar interests. Email addresses are uploaded for matching only in hashed (one-way encrypted) form. This applies to readers who subscribed on or after 28 September 2026.

You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every newsletter. Once you unsubscribe, we stop sending to you and no longer use your email address to build advertising audiences. To have data already uploaded removed from advertising audiences, email service@joelin.cc; we will handle the request within 30 days of receiving it.

(2) Website traffic analysis

The Website uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4), loaded through Cloudflare Zaraz, to understand how content performs. What is collected is statistical browsing data, such as page paths, referring URLs, browser and device type, and approximate location (country/city level). It does not include your name, phone number or other data that directly identifies you. Results are only presented in aggregate.

(3) Analytics records for member sign-in (for tools.joelin.cc and other network sites that use id.joelin.cc sign-in)

When you sign in to a network site through id.joelin.cc (for example tools.joelin.cc, photobooth.joelin.cc or fansupport.joelin.cc), that site sends the sign-in event (first registration or a later sign-in) to Google Analytics 4 and uses an anonymous analytics ID, generated from your account identifier with a one-way hash, as the User-ID. This is used to measure usage across devices and across sites (*.joelin.cc). The ID contains no name, email or anything that directly identifies you, and Google cannot use it to work out your account. Sending is governed by each site's cookie consent settings: if you have not agreed to analytics use, nothing is sent. The ID is removed from your browser when you sign out.

(4) Website infrastructure and information security

The Website is hosted on Cloudflare. During normal browsing, the infrastructure automatically records necessary connection information, including IP address, time of use, browser user-agent string and request path, for content delivery, protection against abnormal traffic and troubleshooting. These records are for internal use only, are not published, and are not used to identify individual readers.

(5) Emails and enquiries you send us

When you contact us by email or through a form, we keep the name, email address, contact details and correspondence you provide, in order to reply and follow up.

(6) Compiling and publishing records of fan-support events (fansupport.joelin.cc)

fansupport.joelin.cc is an independent fan-support information site. In addition to data you provide yourself as described above, the site compiles application records of fan-support events and publicly shows the following fields on the page of the person or group being supported:

  • The name of the person or group being supported
  • The event date and its purpose (for example a birthday celebration, a debut anniversary or concert support)
  • The organizer's publicly available social media account, with the number of events that account has held and the date of the most recent one

Fields that could be used to contact or identify a specific individual, such as the contact person's name, phone number, email address, mailing address, national ID number and date of birth, are discarded during data import. They never enter the Website and are never shown publicly.

The purpose of this compilation is to show which public fan-support events have been held in Taiwan for a given person or group. The social media accounts shown are accounts that the organizers themselves made public to promote the event. The Website only compiles this information; it does not imply any official endorsement, affiliation or partnership. Ordering follows an objective rule based on the number of events, and paid placement is not accepted.

If an organizer does not want their account to be listed, they can email service@joelin.cc and we will remove it after confirmation. No reason is needed. We cannot remove copies already cached by search engines or social media platforms.

(7) Event feedback surveys

When you fill in a feedback survey (forms.joelin.cc) after attending an event that Joe Lin organized or spoke at, we collect your scores, written feedback, email address and (optionally) mobile number. These are used only to improve the event and to send you the recap and follow-up notices for that event. If you agree in the survey (the box is ticked by default and can be unticked), your written feedback may be quoted anonymously in event recap articles and on event pages. You can ask us at any time to remove published feedback, using the channel described in Section 7.

(8) Fan Support member data (fansupport.joelin.cc)

When you sign in to fansupport.joelin.cc through id.joelin.cc and use features such as claiming a page, your member profile or submitting events, that site stores the public display name, organizer bio, public links, event information, image upload records, records of your agreement to its terms, and moderation and report-handling records that you provide on that site. Public pages only show the events and organizer information you submit as public; account identifiers, sign-in credentials and administrative data are never output to public pages. Your account itself (including your email address) is handled under the Joe Lin Member Center privacy policy, and submitted content is also subject to that site's terms of use and submission policy.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

The Website uses the following three types of cookies or similar technologies:

  • Strictly necessary items: set by Cloudflare for content delivery and security; without them the service cannot work properly.
  • Analytics items: set by GA4 as described above, to distinguish browsing sessions and count traffic sources.
  • Advertising items: set by Google AdSense, 好廣告數據 (Teleworker Inc.) and their third-party advertising vendors, to serve ads, measure ad performance and limit how often the same ad is shown.

Since August 2026 the Website has shown ads provided by Google AdSense on some pages. Google and its third-party advertising partners use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this or other websites. You can turn off personalized ads in Google Ad Settings, or manage other third-party vendors at aboutads.info. After you turn off personalized ads you will still see ads, but they will no longer be chosen based on your browsing history.

Since September 2026 the Website has also loaded ad code provided by 好廣告數據 (Teleworker Inc.) on article pages. That code loads the company's own tag-management container, through which the company loads the advertising and measurement services it uses (including Google Ads and Google Analytics tags). Those services are configured by that company, not by the Website, and their collection and use are governed by the privacy policies of that company and its vendors. You can likewise manage personalized ads through Google Ad Settings and aboutads.info.

If you do not want cookies to be written, you can raise your browser's privacy level or block specific domains in its settings, although some features may then not work properly.

4. Data protection

The servers and services used by the Website have the necessary information-security measures in place, such as firewalls and encrypted transmission (HTTPS). Only authorized personnel can access your personal data, and they are bound by confidentiality. When we engage other organizations to provide services for business needs, we require them to observe the same confidentiality obligations and take the necessary steps to check that they do.

5. Sharing personal data with third parties

The Website will never provide, exchange, rent or sell your personal data to any other individual, group, private company or public authority, except where there is a legal basis or contractual obligation.

Where necessary to provide the service, the following service providers process relevant data within the scope of their engagement. This is "outsourced processing", not "selling or exchanging":

  • Cloudflare: website hosting, content delivery and security protection.
  • Google Analytics 4: statistical analysis of website traffic.
  • Newsletter delivery platform: newsletter list management and delivery.
  • Meta Platforms (Facebook, Instagram): building advertising audiences from subscribers' hashed email addresses and serving ads (see Section 2(1)).
  • Zapier: automatically passing new subscriber data between the newsletter delivery platform and Meta.
  • Google AdSense: serving ads and measuring their performance.
  • 好廣告數據 (Teleworker Inc.): serving and measuring ads on article pages, including the advertising and analytics services loaded by its own tag-management container.

The exceptions mentioned above include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. You have given written consent.
  2. It is expressly required by law.
  3. It is necessary to prevent danger to your life, body, freedom or property.
  4. It is necessary for statistics or academic research in the public interest, in cooperation with a public authority or academic research institution, and the data has been processed so that no specific individual can be identified from the way it is disclosed.
  5. Your conduct on the Website violates its terms of service or may harm the rights and interests of the Website or other users, and the Website has concluded that disclosing your personal data is necessary to identify you, contact you or take legal action.
  6. It is in your interest.

6. International transfer and retention period

The service providers listed above are international services, so your data may be stored or processed on servers outside the Republic of China (Taiwan). Newsletter subscription data is kept until you unsubscribe; analytics and infrastructure records are kept for each service's default period and are then deleted automatically by the system.

7. Your rights

Under Taiwan's Personal Data Protection Act, you may, regarding the personal data we hold about you, request to inquire about or review it, obtain copies, supplement or correct it, stop its collection, processing or use, and have it deleted. Please make your request through the contact channels in Section 9; we will handle it as soon as possible after confirming your identity. You can also unsubscribe from the newsletter directly with the link in each email.

Regarding the fan-support event records in Section 2(6), organizers may simply email us to have their social media account removed from display, without giving a reason and without affecting any existing service.

Regarding the event feedback surveys in Section 2(7), you may at any time email us to have published feedback (quoted in event recap articles or on event pages) removed, without giving a reason.

8. Changes to this policy

This policy may be revised at any time in response to changes in law or in our services. The revised policy will be posted on this page and the "Last updated" date at the top will be changed.

9. Contact

If you have any questions about this policy, or want to request a change to or removal of your personal data, please email service@joelin.cc, or contact us through the contact page on me.joelin.cc.
