This page explains who owns the copyright in the content of the Joe Lin's Report (老喬報) network, the principles we follow when using other people's materials, and how you can notify us, and how we will respond, if you believe content on the Website infringes your rights.

1. Scope

This policy applies to the websites and services operated by Joe Lin's Report (Joe Lin, 林伯彥) on the joelin.cc domain and all of its subdomains (*.joelin.cc), together referred to as "the Website". The scope is the same as that of our Privacy Policy. Unless otherwise announced, any subdomain added in the future is covered by this policy from the day it launches.

Individual subdomains may set supplementary terms for matters specific to that site (for example, the submission policy of a site that accepts user submissions). Supplementary terms cover matters this policy does not address; where the two set different rules on the same matter, the supplementary terms prevail for that site.

2. Copyright in the Website's content

Unless otherwise indicated, copyright in the text, charts and images written or produced by the Website belongs to Joe Lin (林伯彥).

  • If you quote the Website's content within reasonable limits for reporting, commentary, teaching, research or similar purposes, please credit the source and link to the original page.
  • For republication, adaptation or commercial use beyond reasonable quotation, please email us first to obtain permission.

3. How the Website uses other people's materials

Content published by the Website itself only uses images and materials from the following sources:

  1. Materials we photographed or made ourselves.
  2. Materials we generated ourselves with generative tools (without naming or imitating specific works, and without generating the likeness of real people).
  3. Materials the rights holder has authorized us to use, or official materials the rights holder has made publicly available for use by the media and the public.
  4. Stock images or openly licensed materials whose license allows commercial use, credited as their license requires.

When we quote other people's works for reporting, commentary or research, we limit the quotation to what is necessary and credit the source. Content shown through the official embed feature of a third-party platform (such as a social media platform) remains stored on that platform, and stops being shown once the original author deletes it or makes it private.

On sites that accept user submissions, submitted content is provided by the submitters themselves, who warrant under that site's submission policy that they hold the necessary rights.

4. Reporting content and requesting removal

If you believe any content on the Website infringes your copyright, portrait rights or other rights, please email service@joelin.cc and include as much of the following as you can:

  1. The URL of the content in question (screenshots are welcome).
  2. Who you are and the right you are claiming (for example, that you are the photographer, the copyright owner, the person depicted, or their agent).
  3. How you would like us to handle it (for example, remove it, add a credit, or publish a correction).
  4. How we can best contact you.

How we handle reports:

  1. Remove first, then verify: after receiving a specific removal request, we will remove or stop displaying the disputed content as soon as possible, without waiting for the dispute to be resolved.
  2. Notify the submitter: if the disputed content was submitted by a user, we will tell the original submitter why it was removed and give them a chance to respond.
  3. Mistakes can be reversed: if verification shows that no right was infringed, the content may be restored, and we will notify the party who made the report.

For user-submitted content, notices of copyright infringement and counter-notices are handled in accordance with Chapter VI-1 of the Copyright Act of the Republic of China (Taiwan).

5. Changes to this policy

This policy may be revised at any time in response to changes in law or in our services. The revised policy will be posted on this page and the "Last updated" date at the top will be changed.

6. Contact

For reports, removal requests or licensing enquiries, please email service@joelin.cc, or contact us through the contact page on me.joelin.cc.
