Summary

Suila ID Photo is the most common self-service ID photo booth brand in Taiwan, with more than 500 booths nationwide according to the company. Joe estimates an investment of NT$90,000–100,000 per booth: NT$30,000 for a camera, NT$40,000 for a dye-sublimation printer, NT$10,000 for a display, and NT$10,000 for the enclosure. At NT$200 per photo, selling 500 photos would recover the investment if there were no other fixed costs, although utilities, photo paper, and other variable costs must also be considered. The legal entity behind Suila is 誠合國際股份有限公司, established in 1992 with registered capital of NT$20 million and 陳志環 as its legal representative. Japanese investors appear to have acquired a stake around 2015, when several Japanese names were added to the board and supervisory roster.

If you have ever applied for an official document and suddenly needed to submit an ID photo, you have probably headed to the nearest photo booth to take one.
The most common ID photo booth brand on the market is Suila ID Photo (水啦證件快照).

That got me curious.

Suila’s photo booths look pretty expensive!
Is placing them at all these locations really worthwhile?

The Possible Cost Structure of a Suila ID Photo Booth

  • One camera
  • One printer, requiring dye-sublimation photo paper
  • One display
  • A coin mechanism
  • An enclosure

The camera is probably a DSLR; I would budget NT$30,000.
For printers, the remaining suppliers of this technology are Dai Nippon Printing, HiTi, and Kodak. I would budget NT$40,000 for a commercial model.
The display is a little harder to assess. The ones I have seen look almost like projections, so let’s allow NT$10,000.
The enclosure’s exterior finish looks impressive, but I have no idea what it costs. Perhaps NT$10,000?
The coin mechanism seems like a cost we can leave out of this rough estimate.

Adding that up, a Suila ID Photo booth would probably cost around NT$90,000–100,000.

How Many Suila ID Photo Booths Are There in Taiwan?

The official advertising copy I saw said there were more than 500 booths.

In September 2026, the official map listed 587 locations. The most common locations were POYA stores, with 145, and household registration offices, with 68. The individual locations are compiled in the POYA ID Photo Booths and Household Registration Office ID Photo Booths lists. For an overview of all three brands across Taiwan, see the ID Photo Booth Map.

How Many Photos Must a Suila ID Photo Booth Sell to Recover the Initial Investment?

Assuming NT$200 per photo, with no fixed costs, revenue-sharing payments, or rent, a booth would need to sell 500 photos to recover the investment.
That does not yet include variable costs such as utilities, photo paper, and miscellaneous expenses.
