# Taiwan Receipt Lottery (Uniform Invoice): Prizes, Draw Dates, Tax and How Foreigners Claim

## The short answer

Every receipt (uniform invoice, 統一發票) issued in Taiwan is also a lottery ticket. The Ministry of Finance draws winning numbers on the 25th of every odd-numbered month for the previous two months, for example on September 25 for July and August receipts. The top prize is NT$10 million for all eight digits; matching just the last three digits of a first-prize number wins NT$200. Prizes must be claimed within three months starting on the 6th of the month after the draw, and prizes of NT$10,000 and above have 20% income tax withheld.

Foreigners can play and claim too. The rules and the tax rate are the same.

## Prize table

| Prize | Amount | How to win | Numbers drawn per period |
| --- | ---: | --- | ---: |
| Special Prize | NT$10,000,000 | All 8 digits match the Special Prize number | 1 |
| Grand Prize | NT$2,000,000 | All 8 digits match the Grand Prize number | 1 |
| First Prize | NT$200,000 | All 8 digits match a First Prize number | 3 |
| Second Prize | NT$40,000 | Last 7 digits match a First Prize number | — |
| Third Prize | NT$10,000 | Last 6 digits match a First Prize number | — |
| Fourth Prize | NT$4,000 | Last 5 digits match a First Prize number | — |
| Fifth Prize | NT$1,000 | Last 4 digits match a First Prize number | — |
| Sixth Prize | NT$200 | Last 3 digits match a First Prize number | — |

The second through sixth prizes are all checked against the three First Prize numbers. The Special and Grand Prize numbers only pay if all eight digits match. The old "Additional Sixth Prize" was abolished from the January–February 2022 period. Some English-language pages still mention it; it no longer exists.

## Cloud invoice prizes

Receipts stored electronically in a "carrier", such as a mobile barcode or a store membership card, are called cloud invoices. They enter the regular draw and a separate draw of their own, which requires the two-letter prefix and all eight digits to match. Prize counts in 2026:

| Cloud invoice prize | Amount | Per period, Jan–Jun 2026 | Per period, Jul–Dec 2026 |
| --- | ---: | ---: | ---: |
| Million-dollar prize | NT$1,000,000 | 30 | 30 |
| NT$2,000 prize | NT$2,000 | 16,000 | 16,000 |
| NT$800 prize | NT$800 | 100,000 | 100,000 |
| NT$500 prize | NT$500 | 3,850,000 | 4,350,000 |

The Ministry of Finance added 500,000 NT$500 prizes per period from July 2026, bringing the total to 4,466,030 cloud invoice prizes per period. A receipt that wins both a regular and a cloud prize can collect only one of them. Cloud prize numbers are published on the Ministry's eTax Portal and in the official claim app, not on the regular winning-number list.

## Draw dates and claim deadlines

| Receipts from | Draw date | Claim period starts |
| --- | --- | --- |
| January–February | March 25 | April 6, for three months |
| March–April | May 25 | June 6, for three months |
| May–June | July 25 | August 6, for three months |
| July–August | September 25 | October 6, for three months |
| September–October | November 25 | December 6, for three months |
| November–December | January 25 | February 6, for three months |

If the last day falls on a weekend, the deadline moves to the next working day. For the July–August 2026 draw on September 25, 2026, the Special Prize number was 89996565 and the Grand Prize number 91098182; the claim period runs from October 6, 2026 to January 5, 2027.

## Tax on prizes

| Prize | Income tax (20%) | Stamp duty (0.4%) | Net if claimed in person |
| --- | --- | --- | ---: |
| Special Prize NT$10 million | NT$2,000,000 | NT$40,000 | NT$7,960,000 |
| Grand Prize NT$2 million | NT$400,000 | NT$8,000 | NT$1,592,000 |
| First Prize NT$200,000 | NT$40,000 | NT$800 | NT$159,200 |
| Second Prize NT$40,000 | NT$8,000 | NT$160 | NT$31,840 |
| Third Prize NT$10,000 | NT$2,000 | NT$40 | NT$7,960 |
| Fourth Prize NT$4,000 | None | NT$16 | NT$3,984 |
| Fifth Prize NT$1,000 | None | NT$4 | NT$996 |
| Sixth Prize NT$200 | None | None | NT$200 |

Prizes above NT$5,000 per receipt have 20% income tax withheld on the full amount, which means the Third Prize and above, plus the NT$1 million cloud prize. Non-residents pay the same 20%. The withholding is final; the prize is not added to annual taxable income. A 0.4% stamp duty applies to the Fifth Prize and above and to cloud prizes of NT$500 and above, but it is waived when the prize is paid into a bank account set up on the e-invoice platform or the official claim app. The net amounts in the table are reference figures.

## Where to claim

- Designated banks, including First Commercial Bank, Chang Hwa Bank and the Agricultural Bank of Taiwan, pay every prize level during banking hours.
- Convenience stores and supermarkets (7-Eleven, FamilyMart, Hi-Life, OK Mart, PX Mart and Simple Mart) pay the Fifth and Sixth Prizes and the smaller cloud prizes. From 9 a.m. until closing (11 p.m. at the latest) you can take cash; at other hours only goods or stored value.
- The official Uniform Invoice Prize Redemption app pays cloud invoices stored on a mobile barcode at every prize level. It requires a Taiwan bank or post office account in New Taiwan dollars.
- A prize account set up in advance receives cloud invoice winnings automatically, with tax deducted.

At a counter, fill in the claim form on the back of a paper receipt. To print a mobile barcode for shops to scan, see the [mobile barcode generator](https://tools.joelin.cc/en/carrier-barcode/).

## Can foreigners claim?

Yes. The receipt lottery is open to anyone who receives a receipt in Taiwan.

- At a counter: foreigners can use a passport, Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) or entry and exit permit instead of a national ID card. A short-term visitor with only a passport can claim in person.
- By app or automatic deposit: the regulations extend direct deposit to Taiwanese nationals and foreigners holding a residence certificate, and the app needs a Taiwan bank or post office account. In practice, these channels require an ARC and a local account.
- Receipts used for a foreign tourist VAT refund cannot win.

## Receipts that cannot win

- Receipts with no amount filled in.
- Receipts issued to a government agency, state enterprise, public school, the military or a business, such as receipts carrying a company tax ID for expense claims.
- Receipts used for a foreign tourist VAT refund.
- Receipts presented after the claim deadline.
