# A Game Company Running Its Own Arcades: Capcom’s Plaza Capcom and the “Puri Mart” Photo Booth Corner

## Summary

Capcom (Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market: 9697) operates its arcades through its in-house Arcade Operations business, rather than a subsidiary, under names including Plaza Capcom, CAPCOMIX and ツカモーヨ. According to its supplementary financial materials for the fiscal year ended March 2026, the business had 61 stores, revenue of JPY 25.6 billion and operating profit of JPY 3.2 billion, with an operating margin of 12.5%. In the fiscal year ended March 2022, it had 42 stores and revenue of JPY 12.4 billion; it planned to reach 70 stores in the fiscal year ending March 2027. The 61 stores include character merchandise shops such as CAPCOM STORE TAIPEI, so this is neither the number of arcades nor the number of locations with photo booths. This site’s photobooth.joelin.cc directory lists 25 Capcom locations with photo booths in Japan, verified on September 24, 2026; 12 are in AEON MALL or AEON shopping centers. Capcom calls some of its in-store photo booth areas Puri Mart (プリマート). Official announcements document at least six locations: Kichijoji, renovated in 2022; Oyabe, April 2024; Narita, October 2024; Kochi, February 2025; LaLa Terrace Kita-Ayase, June 2025; and Sannomiya. Official wording alternates between “specialty shop” and “corner.” No clothing rental service was found in official information for Plaza Capcom or CAPCOMIX; some Puri Mart locations have makeup areas and curling irons. The ツカモーヨ Futtsu store in Chiba specializes in claw machines, but its official listing still includes photo booths.

## Key facts

- Capcom Co., Ltd. (Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market: 9697) runs its arcades through its in-house Arcade Operations business, rather than a subsidiary.
- Supplementary financial materials for the fiscal year ended March 2026 report 61 stores, revenue of JPY 25.6 billion, operating profit of JPY 3.2 billion and an operating margin of 12.5% for Arcade Operations. The plan for the fiscal year ending March 2027 was 70 stores. Verified on September 25, 2026.
- In the fiscal year ended March 2022, the business had 42 stores, revenue of JPY 12.4 billion and an operating margin of 5.3%. Over four years, the store count increased by 19 and revenue roughly doubled.
- Dividing segment revenue by the average of beginning- and end-of-year store counts gives average revenue per store of approximately JPY 300 million in the fiscal year ended March 2022 and JPY 450 million in the fiscal year ended March 2026. Capcom does not disclose individual-store revenue, segment gross profit or net profit, or separate Puri Mart revenue.
- The 61-store figure covers the entire business. The nine stores opened in the fiscal year ended March 2026 include CAPCOM STORE TAIPEI in Taiwan, officially described as the company’s first directly operated store overseas. The figure therefore does not represent the number of arcades.
- photobooth.joelin.cc lists 25 Capcom locations with photo booths in Japan, with 106 machine-model entries across 17 prefectures, verified on September 24, 2026. This count uses a different scope from the 61 stores in Capcom’s financial materials.
- Capcom calls some of its in-store photo booth areas Puri Mart (プリマート). Official announcements document at least six locations: Kichijoji, Oyabe, Narita, Kochi, LaLa Terrace Kita-Ayase and Sannomiya.
- No clothing rental service was found in official information for Plaza Capcom or CAPCOMIX. Opening announcements for Puri Mart Narita and Kochi list makeup areas, curling irons and free photo props.

Capcom, the company behind Monster Hunter and Resident Evil, also runs its own arcades. This business is not a subsidiary: it is the in-house “Arcade Operations” business of Capcom Co., Ltd. (Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market: 9697). Most locations operate under the Plaza Capcom (プラサカプコン) name, with others using names such as CAPCOMIX and ツカモーヨ. Official financial materials report 61 stores for the business in the fiscal year ended March 2026, verified on September 25, 2026, with plans to expand to 70 in the following fiscal year.

Photo sticker booths—commonly called “貼紙相,” or sticker photos, in Hong Kong—are just one type of machine in these stores. That is why I classify Capcom as a venue operator in my [series on Japan’s photo booth distribution channels](/p/9820). In recent years, however, it has done something that other arcades do not necessarily do: given its in-store photo booth areas a name, “Puri Mart (プリマート).” This article starts with the company’s structure and financial figures, then takes a closer look at that photo booth corner.

## A Game Company Operating Its Own Arcades

![CAPCOM’s corporate logo: bold yellow “CAPCOM” lettering outlined in blue, with a registered trademark symbol at the upper right.](https://image.joelin.cc/cdn-cgi/imagedelivery/0xu8EsaSar9n3zUKY5d7xw/joelin/2026-09/brand-logo-capcom-amusement/hero)

The CAPCOM logo is a registered trademark of Capcom Co., Ltd. It was obtained from an official Capcom channel on September 24, 2026, and is used solely to identify the company discussed in this article. It does not imply any partnership or licensing relationship between this site and Capcom.

The parent companies of Japanese arcades have very different core businesses: some are entertainment platforms, some are retail groups, and others are pachinko companies. For a comparison of ten chains, see the [overview article](/p/9820). Several game companies operate their own arcades, but their organizational structures differ. Taito is a wholly owned subsidiary of Square Enix, while namco arcades are operated by a subsidiary within the Bandai Namco group. Capcom keeps its arcades within the company as a business segment, reporting them alongside game software and amusement machine manufacturing in the same financial statements.

This segment operates under more than one store name. Based on the categories on Capcom’s amusement website (<a href="https://www.capcom.co.jp/amusement/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Amusement & Shops</a>, verified on September 25, 2026), they fall broadly into three groups:

- Amusement facilities include Plaza Capcom, MIRAINO, CAPCOMIX and ツカモーヨ, as well as indoor entertainment brands such as VR-X and クレイジーバネット.
- Merchandise stores include Capcom Store for character merchandise, キャラカプ for a broader range of character merchandise, and Capsule Lab (カプセルラボ) for capsule toys.
- Food and beverage outlets include Capcom Cafe.

CAPCOMIX is officially positioned as an “experiential amusement facility where you can mix it up and have fun with both mind and body” (<a href="https://www.capcom.co.jp/amusement/game/capcomix/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">official CAPCOMIX page</a>). At the time of this research, the official website listed two locations, Yokohama Minatomirai and Osaka Abeno Hoop. Both store listings included “プリ,” meaning photo booths, among their offerings.

## The Numbers: From 42 Stores to 61 in Four Years

Capcom’s annual supplementary financial materials include a separate section for Arcade Operations. The table below is compiled from the <a href="https://www.capcom.co.jp/ir/data/pdf/explanation/2026/full/explanation_2026_full_01.pdf" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">supplementary financial materials for the fiscal year ended March 2026</a>, verified on September 25, 2026.

| Fiscal year | Total stores | Openings / closures during the year | Revenue (JPY billion) | Operating profit (JPY billion) | Operating margin |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Year ended March 2022 | 42 | 2 / 1 | 12.4 | 0.6 | 5.3% |
| Year ended March 2023 | 45 | 5 / 2 | 15.6 | 1.2 | 7.9% |
| Year ended March 2024 | 49 | 4 / 0 | 19.3 | 1.8 | 9.7% |
| Year ended March 2025 | 53 | 5 / 1 | 22.7 | 2.4 | 10.7% |
| Year ended March 2026 | 61 | 9 / 1 | 25.6 | 3.2 | 12.5% |
| Year ending March 2027 (plan) | 70 | 9 / 0 | 29.3 | 3.3 | 11.3% |

Over four years, the store count rose from 42 to 61, revenue roughly doubled, and the operating margin climbed from 5.3% to 12.5%. For the company as a whole, Capcom reported revenue of JPY 195.3 billion and operating profit of JPY 75.2 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2026. The arcade segment accounted for approximately 13% and 4% of those totals, respectively. It is a steadily growing business, but still a small segment alongside the company’s core game software business.

The “total stores” figure here covers the entire Arcade Operations business, not just arcades. The same materials state that the nine stores opened in the fiscal year ended March 2026 included CAPCOM STORE TAIPEI in Taiwan, described as the company’s “first directly operated store overseas,” and the new-format CAPCOMIX Abeno Hoop store. In other words, character merchandise shops are included. This figure cannot be treated as the number of Capcom arcades, much less the number of stores with photo booths.

### The Average Store: Approximately JPY 300 Million to JPY 450 Million

Capcom does not publish individual-store revenue or separately disclose this segment’s gross profit or net profit. Its supplementary financial materials list only revenue and operating profit. What we can do is divide the segment totals by the store count to understand the scale of an “average store,” using the average of the beginning- and end-of-year store counts as the denominator:

- Fiscal year ended March 2022: revenue of JPY 12.4 billion across an average of 41.5 stores, or approximately JPY 300 million per store.
- Fiscal year ended March 2026: revenue of JPY 25.6 billion across an average of 57 stores, or approximately JPY 450 million per store; operating profit of JPY 3.2 billion, or approximately JPY 56 million per store.

Average revenue per store increased by roughly 50% over four years. The same materials also report “existing-store sales” at 108% of the previous year’s level for the fiscal year ended March 2026. In other words, stores that had been open for at least a full year generated 8% more revenue than in the preceding year.

There are two caveats to this average:

- The denominator includes character merchandise shops such as CAPCOM STORE, whose formats differ from arcades.
- Stores opened during the year operated for only some of its months, pulling down average revenue per store.

The average is therefore useful for tracking trends, but cannot be treated as the actual revenue of any particular Plaza Capcom store. Puri Mart revenue is also included within this segment. The supplementary financial materials make no mention of photo booths anywhere in the document, so an outside observer cannot separate out their contribution.

## Where Photo Booths Fit Inside the Stores

Walk into Plaza Capcom, and photo booths share the same space with claw machines, medal games and children’s play equipment. Official store pages list “ゲーム” (games), “キッズ” (kids) and “プリ” (photo booths) alongside one another. The official <a href="https://www.capcom.co.jp/amusement/game/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">store search</a> also lets visitors filter for locations with photo booths using “プリ.”

This site’s [Capcom brand page on photobooth.joelin.cc](https://photobooth.joelin.cc/brand/capcom-amusement/) lists 25 locations with photo booths in Japan, with 106 machine-model entries across 17 prefectures, verified on September 24, 2026. The figure of 25 represents locations that this site individually confirmed as having photo booths. It measures something different from the 61 stores in the financial materials. Both the scope and the reference date differ, so the two figures cannot be subtracted from one another.

The addresses of these 25 locations show that Capcom’s photo booths tend to follow shopping centers:

- Twelve locations have addresses inside AEON MALL or AEON shopping centers, including Narita, Okazaki, Niihama, Kochi and Nogata.
- Most other locations are in shopping complexes such as LaLa Terrace, Mitsui Outlet Park and More’s City.
- Only a few occupy street-front buildings in busy areas near railway stations. Kichijoji is one example.

The official announcement archive offers another glimpse of Capcom’s relationships with manufacturers. Past announcements include multiple “location tests” (ロケテスト), in which new machines are trialed in stores before their commercial release. Examples include photo booths from FURYU (フリュー) and Make Software (メイクソフト), as well as announcements that new Sega machines had begun operating. Capcom’s stores therefore do more than host machines: they are also among the venues where manufacturers test reactions to new models before launch. For the manufacturer side of the story, see the [FURYU company study](/p/1918).

## Puri Mart: Giving the Photo Booth Corner a Name

![The Puri Mart (プリマート) logo: rounded “Puri Mart” lettering in bright pink.](https://image.joelin.cc/cdn-cgi/imagedelivery/0xu8EsaSar9n3zUKY5d7xw/joelin/2026-09/brand-logo-puri-mart/hero)

The Puri Mart logo was obtained on September 25, 2026, from Capcom’s <a href="https://www.capcom.co.jp/amusement/game/other/10504/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">official press release from June 2025</a>. The trademark belongs to Capcom Co., Ltd. and is used solely to identify the photo booth corner discussed in this article. It does not imply any partnership or licensing relationship between this site and Capcom.

Capcom calls some of its in-store photo booth areas “Puri Mart (プリマート).” Official press releases describe them as photo booth areas with a pink color scheme, a K-pop style and plenty of “kawaii”—cuteness. Official press releases and store pages document at least six locations:

| Location | Shopping complex or setting | Opening date in the official announcement | Machines at opening | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Plaza Capcom Kichijoji | Kichijoji, in a street-front building | Reopened after renovation on 2022-11-23 | Not specified by Capcom | <a href="https://www.capcom.co.jp/amusement/game/other/5656/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Official announcement</a> |
| Puri Mart Oyabe | Mitsui Outlet Park Hokuriku Oyabe | 2024-04-26 | 5 | <a href="https://www.capcom.co.jp/amusement/game/other/6232/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Official announcement</a> |
| Puri Mart Narita | AEON MALL Narita | 2024-10-25 | 6 | <a href="https://www.capcom.co.jp/amusement/game/other/8798/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Official announcement</a> |
| Puri Mart Kochi | AEON MALL Kochi | 2025-02-28 | 6 | <a href="https://www.capcom.co.jp/amusement/game/other/10089/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Official announcement</a> |
| Puri Mart LaLa Terrace Kita-Ayase | Mitsui Shopping Park LaLa Terrace Kita-Ayase | 2025-06-24 | 4 | <a href="https://www.capcom.co.jp/amusement/game/other/10504/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Official announcement</a> |
| Capsule Lab / Puri Mart Sannomiya | Sannomiya, Kobe, alongside the Capsule Lab capsule toy specialty shop | Opening date not specified on the official store page | Not specified by Capcom | <a href="https://www.capcom.co.jp/amusement/game/shop/sannomiya" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Official store page</a> |

All six share one feature: they are inside or beside Capcom’s own stores, and usually appear alongside Capsule Lab capsule toy shops and claw machine areas. Capcom has not published a complete location count. This table covers only the locations identifiable through public announcements; there may be more.

Even the official terminology shifts. The opening announcements for Oyabe and Kita-Ayase initially call Puri Mart a “specialty shop” (専門店), then call it a “corner” (コーナー) later in the same announcement. That ambiguity neatly illustrates its position. Compared with the unnamed photo booth areas inside GiGO or Taito Station, Puri Mart has a name and a consistent interior style. But Taito’s brooming has several entire stores displaying the brooming sign, while Bandai Namco’s eggnam began as a standalone store name. Puri Mart, by contrast, remains an area under names such as Plaza Capcom. A comparison of the three appears in the [overview article’s section on venue operators developing their own photo booth brands](/p/9820).

The opening announcements for Narita and Kochi describe the supporting amenities more specifically: spacious makeup areas (メイクルーム), curling irons (ヘアアイロン) and free photo props. The Kichijoji announcement mentions a makeup touch-up area at the back of the store. These are descriptions from individual store openings, rather than a uniform service standard across all locations.

## Which Services Are Available? Go by What Capcom Publishes

Prices and opening hours vary by store and change frequently. This section addresses only whether services are available. For details, see each store’s official page in the <a href="https://www.capcom.co.jp/amusement/game/shop/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">store directory</a>.

- Clothing rental: No clothing rental service was found in official information for either Plaza Capcom or CAPCOMIX. Photo booth venues in Japan that offer clothing rental are compiled in the [Japan cosplay photo booth venue list](https://photobooth.joelin.cc/japan/cosplay/).
- Makeup areas and curling irons: Available at some Puri Mart locations, as documented in the official opening announcements in the preceding section. No statement establishing availability across all other stores was found.
- Changing rooms: No official statement establishing availability across all stores was found.
- Membership app: Official store pages link to the “Capcom Amusement App,” described as a way to receive the latest store news and offers. At the openings of Puri Mart Narita and Kochi, promotions also offered gifts to customers who showed an app download screen. No official statement establishing ongoing photo booth membership benefits across all stores was found.
- Rules on men entering photo booth areas alone, or age-based access by time of day: No official announcements were found.

## Futtsu: Photo Booths Inside a Claw Machine Specialty Store

One unusual location appears on this site’s Capcom brand page: “ツカモーヨ Futtsu” in Chiba. ツカモーヨ is Capcom’s claw machine specialty store brand. In November 2025, Capcom announced the opening of this specialty store at AEON MALL Futtsu. Its official store page also names it ツカモーヨ Futtsu (<a href="https://www.capcom.co.jp/amusement/game/shop/futtsu" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">official store page</a>, verified on September 25, 2026).

Yet the same page still lists “ゲーム” (games), “キッズ” (kids) and “プリ” (photo booths) among its offerings. This site records just one machine model at the location, ルートミー2, tagged for ID photos. A specialty store centered on claw machines also having a photo booth illustrates the role of photo booths within the arcade distribution channel: they are not the store’s main attraction, but one type of machine that rounds out its overall mix.

## Placing Capcom on the Map of Japan’s Photo Booth Industry

Japan’s photo booth industry has three layers: manufacturers make the machines, venue operators install them, and brands run specialty stores. Capcom sits in the venue-operator layer, but also carries traces of the other two. It is itself a game company, with a separate Amusement Equipments business in its financial reports. Its stores are among the trial venues for new machines from manufacturers such as FURYU. And by beginning to name its photo booth areas, it has taken a small step toward the brand layer.

For how these three layers developed over thirty years, see [Thirty Years of Japan’s Photo Booth Industry](/p/9821). For the broader context across Taiwan, South Korea and Japan, see the [main photo booth industry article](/p/5848).

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Plaza Capcom a Capcom subsidiary?

No. Arcades such as Plaza Capcom are operated by the in-house Arcade Operations business of Capcom Co., Ltd. (Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market: 9697), and appear in the same financial reports as its game software business. Supplementary financial materials for the fiscal year ended March 2026 report 61 stores for this business, with plans to expand to 70 in the fiscal year ending March 2027.

### What is Puri Mart (プリマート)?

Puri Mart is the name Capcom gives to some of its in-store photo booth areas. Official descriptions present it as a pink, K-pop-style photo booth area. Official announcements document at least six locations, including Kichijoji, Narita, Kochi, Oyabe, LaLa Terrace Kita-Ayase and Sannomiya. It remains under store names such as Plaza Capcom and is not an independent company.

### How many Capcom stores have photo booths?

Capcom has not published a count of stores with photo booths. The 61 stores in its financial materials cover the entire Arcade Operations business, including character merchandise shops. photobooth.joelin.cc lists 25 Capcom locations with photo booths in Japan, verified on September 24, 2026. This site confirmed those locations individually. The two figures use different scopes and cannot be subtracted from one another.

### Can you rent clothes to dress up for photo booth pictures at Plaza Capcom?

No clothing rental service was found in official information for either Plaza Capcom or CAPCOMIX. Opening announcements for some Puri Mart locations list makeup areas, curling irons and free photo props. For photo booth venues in Japan that offer clothing rental, see the Japan cosplay photo booth venue list on photobooth.joelin.cc.
