# Taiwan Salary Percentiles: Where Does Your Annual Pay Rank?

## The official 2024 salary percentiles

Taiwan's Directorate-General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics (DGBAS) publishes annual total earnings for employees in industry and services. For 2024, the median was **NT$546,000**. Half of the employees in this statistical population earned less and half earned more.

| Percentile boundary | Annual total earnings |
| --- | ---: |
| D1 (10th percentile) | NT$330,000 |
| D2 (20th) | NT$381,000 |
| D3 (30th) | NT$432,000 |
| D4 (40th) | NT$487,000 |
| D5 (median) | NT$546,000 |
| D6 (60th) | NT$628,000 |
| D7 (70th) | NT$753,000 |
| D8 (80th) | NT$959,000 |
| D9 (90th) | NT$1,336,000 |

The D9 value is the entry point to the top tenth within the covered employee population. It is about 2.45 times the median.

## What “annual total earnings” means

This measure includes regular salary, overtime, bonuses and other nonregular earnings received during the year. Dividing the median by 12 gives NT$45,500, but that is only an arithmetic monthly average. It is not the official monthly base-salary median.

The statistical population covers employees in industry and services, including full-time and part-time workers and foreign employees. It does not represent self-employed income, investment gains or every working-age resident. DGBAS separately reports **NT$585,000** as the 2024 median for full-time Taiwanese employees.

## A simple planning comparison

If someone saves 15% of annual total earnings, the arithmetic amount would be:

| Salary position | Annual earnings | 15% illustration |
| --- | ---: | ---: |
| Median | NT$546,000 | NT$81,900 |
| D7 | NT$753,000 | NT$112,950 |
| D8 | NT$959,000 | NT$143,850 |
| D9 | NT$1,336,000 | NT$200,400 |

These are illustrations, not financial advice. Household costs, dependants, debt and investment returns determine what a person can actually save.

## How to use the table

Compare the same concept: your total employment earnings for the calendar year, including bonuses, against the table. A value between D7 and D8 means it falls somewhere between the 70th and 80th percentile boundaries; the table does not reveal an exact rank within that interval.

The release is useful for orientation, but it should not be treated as a wage offer guide. Industry, occupation, seniority, working hours and location can produce very different pay levels.
